How we compile figures

We don’t count tickets ourselves. Each figure on this site is compiled from reports by producers, distributors, trade publications and box-office trackers. Every report is stored with its source and the time we retrieved it.

Gross, net and distributor share are different measures and are never mixed. Overseas figures stay in the currency they were reported in.

When sources agree, we publish the figure with higher confidence. When they conflict, we review manually and may show the figure as disputed. Corrections never overwrite history: every revision is kept.

Confidence labels

• Officially reported — from the producer or distributor.
• Reported by multiple sources — consistent across independent reports.
• Estimated — trade estimates with partial agreement.
• Single-source estimate — only one report so far.
• Disputed — sources disagree materially.
• Awaiting confirmation — not yet verified.
